Trained by Antoine de Vinck and English master potter Bernard Leach, Belgian ceramist and sculptor Pierre Culot (1938-2011) built a bridge between British, Japanese and French traditions. Throughout his life, he remained faithful to his initial experience as a potter, developing his ceramic works from basic forms (bowls, plates, jugs) to more daring ones (cruciform vases, gourds, compound pots, inkwells).
This first monograph devoted to Pierre Culot retraces the life and work of this artist who passionately expressed his desire to be in the world, to be on earth, in nature, the only generator of life and beauty.
