Paul Durand-Ruel Et Le Post-Impressionnisme Paul Durand-Ruel And The Post-Impressionnism

Auteur(s) : Claire Durand Ruel Snollaerts, Jacques Sylvain Klein

Exhibition at the Propriété Caillebotte, Yerres, 19 May - 24 Octobre, 2021

Art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel (1831-1922) devoted his life to the painters of the School of 1830 (Delacroix, Corot, Daubigny, Millet) and then to Impressionists. It is less known that he also supported, with the same enthusiasm, five painters of the post-impressionist generation, whom he began to represent in the middle of the 1890s: Henry Moret, Maxime Maufra, Gustave Loiseau, Georges d'Espagnat and Albert André.

Based on the archives of the Durand-Ruel gallery - exhibition catalogues, accounts of inventories, of finances and of deposits - and on the fascinating letters between the artists and their dealer, this exhibition catalogue explore their works and brings to light the bonds that unite them.
