Henry Ottmann began his career in Belgium. Although he was particularly fond of modern subjects, such as railway stations or major boulevards, he was also interested in landscapes, particularly those of his native region, the Loire-Atlantique, which he treated with sensitivity as a great colourist.
This catalogue raisonné, organised by theme, evokes Ottmann's career between Nantes and its region, Belgium, Seine-et-Oise and Paris, his gallery owners - Drouant, Petit and Barbarange - and his friends - Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Jean Metzinger, Ève Francis, Louis Delluc, René Levrel, Charles Vildrac and Albert Kahn. The book lists and identifies the works produced and known to this day.
