Dora Maar : Secrets D'atelier

This exhibition catalogue sheds new light on a little-studied period in the work of Dora Maar (1907-1997), from 1936 to 1943, during which the artist shared her life with Picasso.

By studying and commenting on a large body of the artist's unpublished drawings, notebooks, handwritten notes and poems - including transcriptions of conversations with Picasso - the book continues the rehabilitation of Dora Maar's graphic work that began a few years ago, shedding new light on the place of her work in the Surrealist movement. It also sheds light on the nature of the relationship between the two artists and the way in which Dora Maar pursued her visual work after their break-up.
