Barthélémy Toguo

Auteur(s) : Philippe Dagen

Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo (1967-) is a multiple disciplinary artist whose work addresses migration, colonialism, race, exile and displacement.

This monograph recounts the artist's life and works, from the fine arts academy in Abidjan to the fine arts academy in Grenoble, then the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. Freely encompassing drawing, watercolour, sculpture, video, installation and performance, his creations draw inspiration from his experience, travels and encounters. Toguo plays with space by overlapping different materials and crosses Western and African traditions.
