Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, 22 May - 9 September 2013

This book is the catalogue of the exhibition which pays tribute the Hungary-born French painter Simon Hantaï (1922-2008), master figure of modern and abstract art. Sixty years of his life as a painter are revealed in this publication gathering his greatest masterpieces. From surrealist canvas to gestural paintings, in the manner of Pollock and American abstract Expressionists, the variety of the artist's techniques is shown: collage, frottage, cut papers, folding, etc.

Essays, accounts of his relatives, and a chronology including unpublished illustrations, enrich this first reference book on the artist.
