Schneider Maître Verrier : Florilège D'une Exceptionnelle Collection

Auteur(s) : Olivier Ador

Several decades ago, the author of this book discovered the art of Charles Schneider (1881-1953) by the greatest of coincidences. Immediately attracted by the work of this famous master glassmaker of the early twentieth century, he has since assembled an extraordinary collection, which today includes more than six hundred pieces.

Although Charles Schneider produced an incredible amount of work in only fifteen years and directed the largest art glassworks in Europe in the 1920s and 1930s, he remains relatively unknown compared to his contemporaries such as Lalique and Daum.

This book reveals Schneider's glassmaking adventure and allows us to discover the beauty of his forms and motifs - often avant-gardist - and the shimmering brilliance of the colours he used, restoring Schneider to his rightful place as Gallé's equal in Art Nouveau and Lalique's or Marinot's in Art Deco creations. The book includes an important catalogue of the glassmaker's works.
