Hay

Auteur(s) : Kelsey Keith

Born in 2002 out of Scandinavian designers Rolf and Mette Hay's desire to make exceptional design accessible to all, HAY reimagines functional objects - from sofas to cutting boards, towels and toothbrushes. Simple, elegant and affordable, HAY's furniture and accessories are a perfect blend of quality and economy.

The brand is characterised by its exuberant use of colour - icy pastels, primary Memphis colours, rich jewel tones and vibrant near-newtons - and by deep connections to the wider culture community. HAY's best-selling products, including the Mags sofa, the Matin lamp, the About A chair and the Palissade collection, remain ahead of the curve.

Published on the occasion of the brand's 20th anniversary, this monograph traces HAY's origins and trajectory, including its close partnership with Herman Miller, its collaborations with an ever-increasing number of designers, as well as design companies such as COS, IKEA and SONOS. The book also includes interviews with five designer duos: Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, Shane Schneck and Clara von Zweigbergk, Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi.
