Fornasetti: Memories Of The Future

Auteur(s) : Silvana Annichiarico, Ginevra Quadrio Curzio

Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) began his career presenting ceramics at the eighth Milan Triennale in 1947, encouraged by Gio Ponti. In the early 1950s, he worked with Ponti to design the furnishings for Italy's great transatlantic liners, a fruitful collaboration that gave him a high profile. Piero Fornasetti soon extended his production to furniture, furnishings and accessories, household objects and fabrics, becoming an iconic designer in Italy as the country rebuilt and transformed itself in the post-war boom years.

After Piero's death in 1988, his son Barnaba took over the reins of the company, making the most of his father's incredible visual archive, relaunching the brand and leading it towards a prestigious international development, with exhibitions and activities in museums all over the world.

This book tells the story of a brand that is now known the world over, and of its creative universe.
