Charles Et Marie-Laure De Noailles Mécènes Du Xxè Siecle

Auteur(s) : Alexandre Mare et Stéphane Boudin-Lestienne

Villa Noailles is the iconic place of the modernity which deeply impacted the decades after the first World war. Built by Robert Mallet-Stevens, furnished by Pierre Chareau, Sonia Delaunay, Djo-Bourgeois, Jean-Michel Franck, this "Cubist castle" hosted Man Ray, Alberto Giacometti, Salvador Dali, Jean Cocteau, Francis Poulenc, Luis Buñuel, André Breton, etc.
This book presents the patronage of Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles who, from 1923 to 1973, have bought or ordered works of art from all media: art, cinema, music or literature. It refers to numerous unpublished sources (letters, photographs, works, documents) giving a precise and authentic look on that amazing couple.
