Charlotte Perriand : La Montagne Inspirée

Auteur(s) : Pascale Nivelle

A design icon and visionary creator, Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) invented a new art of living in the twentieth century: forms, furniture and spaces acclaimed the world over, which she designed in Le Corbusier's studio and then alone, against all the odds, as far afield as Japan.

But it was in nature and in the mountains that the designer found her inspiration, as a child fascinated by the glaciers on the horizon, as a passionate skier, as a daring mountaineer, and as a hiker curious to meet the creators in the villages and mountain pastures.

For this illustrated biography, author Pascale Nivelle has drawn on her exceptional collection of photos to recount the life of a committed, joyful woman for whom the mountains were a perpetual 're-creation'.
