Exhibition at Galerie Berès, Paris, 20 October 2004 - 8 January 2005
The exhibition devoted to the work of the modern sculptor Henri Laurens by the Galerie Berès is the most important since the ones organised in 1993 by Villeneuve d'Ascq Museum of Modern Art and in 1996 by the Centre Georges Pompidou.
The Galerie Berès exhibits a set of major works executed by Laurens between 1915 and 1954 which shows the major aspects of his carrier, except his so rare first constructions. Laurens's stick papers, watercolours and first engravings allow understanding his personal conception of the Cubist aestheticism. The drawings, collages, engravings, illustrated books and sculpture show his evolution in his way of presenting the femal nude, from geometric abstraction to Expressionism.
