Frankenthaler

Auteur(s) : John Elderfield
2nd revised and expanded edition
Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) is considered one of the greatest American artists of the twentieth century. A member of the second generation of post-war American abstract painters, she is widely acknowledged to have expanded the possibilities of abstraction through her invention of the ‘soak-stain’ technique and her highly personal references to figuration and landscape.
This revised and expanded edition of John Elderfield's seminal 1989 monograph includes updated text throughout, as well as a new chapter covering works made after 1988. The book includes over 300 colour reproductions of Frankenthaler's work, as well as over a hundred comparative illustrations and documentary photographs.
