RARE BOOK

Parisian ceramist, Pol Chambost explores multiple facets of creation, from the single object to the small series. As such, he is one of the spearheads of the Chambre syndicale des Céramistes d'art de France. The curvilinear flights of his ceramics with their sensual, daring but also traditional visions reveal the passion of an artist for beautiful, useful and decorative objects. The juxtaposition of colours, the singularity of materials and shapes, the study of lines, the association of lines and curves: all clues to recognise these icons of the French style of the 1950s.

Supported by analyses by art historians specialising in ceramics, this monograph weaves together the life of Pol Chambost from family archives and draws not only a complete portrait of a ceramic artist, but also the history of taste in the 1950s. Philippe Chambost, the artist's son, pays an admiring tribute to his father, whom he hardly knew.
