Picasso Sculpteur

Auteur(s) : Werner Spies

RARE BOOK

Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, 8 June - 25 September 2000

Although he is often referred to as the major painter of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso was also a sculptor, and over time his work has become as important in three dimensions as in two. His sculptural work makes use of both the object and the fetish, where the magical influence of the object reigns.

This catalogue of the first major retrospective of Picasso's sculptural work ever held in France includes the 300 works on display - assemblages from the Cubist period, sculptures using iron, modelling, collaged materials and ceramics - as well as the catalogue raisonné of some 700 of Picasso's sculptures, from the smallest to the most monumental.
