This book, published on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Zadkine Museum, brings together the greatest masterpieces of the museum's collections. Sixty emblematic works, sculptures or drawings, are presented and commented on.
The place itself, the home-studio of the Russian-born artist Ossip Zadkine (1890-1964) and his wife Valentine Prax (1897-1981), which has become a museum, is the subject of an introductory essay accompanied by photographs, both old and new, which enable the reader to rediscover the spirit of the place. The book also includes an extensive chronology, with quotations, which describes Zadkine's career.
