It is called "Schneider's Matisse", as this sum of nearly 800 pages dedicated to Henri Matisse by Pierre Scheider is a reference, the result of 14 years of research. It shows Henri Matisse's work as a trajectory that takes him from realism to abstraction, from darkness to light, from the North to the South, along an itinerary marked by revolutionary discoveries such as the explosion of colour or the invention of cut-out gouaches.

The book also reveals little-known aspects of the artist, the aquerellist, the pastellist, the ceramist or the architect. The Matisse we thought we knew appears in a new light.
