The masters of the interwar period, as Adnet, Arbus or Old, and the leaders of a "free" 1950s style, as Matégot, Royère or Raphaël, are first studied. They are followed by the great figures of the reconstruction after the World War II - Gascoin, Hitier, Renou or Sognot, then by their "spiritual sons", Gautier-Delaye, Guariche, Motte, Paulin, Richard or Philippon et Lecoq, who were the first ones to succeed in collaborating with manufacturers.
In the last part of the book, the author analyzes the creation of structures of production, promotion and distribution, with manufacturers as Airborne or Steiner, galleries as Steph Simon's or the galerie M.A.I, workshops of department stores, decoration magazines, etc.
