Exhibition at the Musée Bonnard, Le Cannet, 7 July - 4 November 2018
The image of the muse or female source of inspiration is an inevitable component of creation. Through their visible or invisible presence, the muses animate and feed the fire that inhabits artists. Some were their wives or mistresses and sometimes simply their models, but all of them, by what emanates from them, what they think or what they are, have marked with a particular grace their presence in the creations that arose before their eyes.
The thread of this exhibition catalogue, which brings together some twenty artists between 1870 and 1960, is woven by Marthe, Misia, Lola, Dina, Lydia, Lucy, Jacqueline and many others. All the works are illustrated and accompanied by an illustrated note.
