A leading figure of the 1950s Café Society, Georges Geffroy was considered during his life as a real oracle of the great classic décor, but a revisited and pure one.
He had as clients and followers lots of great names - including Christian Dior, Gloria Guinness, Alexis de Rédé or Antenor Patino -, for whom he created highly refined decors, choosing objects and furniture of his favourite period, the very end of the 18th century, from the greatest antique dealers of his time to decorate his compositions where were also found numerous silks.
In this book, his works are recreated, as accurately as possible, thanks notably to unpublished archives and to the help of one of his greatest admirers, Hubert de Givenchy. Are included an abundant iconography and documented appendixes.
