Francine Del Pierre (1917-1968) and Fance Franck (1931-2008) occupy a special place in the French creative landscape of the 1950s and 1960s. Francine Del Pierre created a work of absolute rigour, elaborated in barely shaded enamel colours from very precise drawings.
In 1957, Fance Franck joined Francine Del Pierre's studio, where she too pursued research into modelling, the variation of fundamental forms and their movement in space. Three years later, the two ceramists founded the rue Bonaparte studio, a place of work where collectors, international museum directors and great master potters such as Leach, Hamada and Cardew met.
This book retraces the career of the two artists who were united by their inspiration and practice of Far Eastern ceramic techniques, but who were able to preserve their artistic specificity.
