Cobra: A Pictorial And Poetic Revolution

Auteur(s) : Paul Huvenne (dir.)

Cobra was in some ways the last truly European movement within modernism. The anarchic history of the group is not only an important part of art history: it lives on today and has inspired all kinds of artists who were never directly involved in Cobra. The work bequeathed by Karel Appel, Pierre Alechinsky, Constant, Corneille and other kindred spirits is at once raw, poetic and moving.

This catalogue offers an important study of the Cobra movement. It presents the masterpieces of Cobra art owned by the Phoebus Foundation in Antwerp.
