Rosario Candela & The New York Apartment : 1927-1937

Auteur(s) : David Netto, Paul Goldberger, Peter Pennoyer

Known for numerous buildings on Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Sutton Place-82 in New York, the architect Rosario Candela (1890-1953) developed a style that was both timeless and profoundly of its time. His outwardly classical, even modest buildings conceal flats whose plans and arrangements of rooms and space are often extraordinary and luxurious. Throughout his career, Candela set a standard that serves as a benchmark and objective for taste and refinement.

This book analyses the spaces created by the architect from various angles: exterior and urbanism, planning and interior architecture, circumstances and creative history. Period black-and-white photographs as well as recent images of exteriors, original plans and a collection of exceptional interior views give Candela's work a historical perspective and a contemporary sparkle.
