La Fabrique De L'extravagance Porcelaines De Meissen Et De Chantilly

Auteur(s) : Mathieu Deldicque

Catalogue of the exhibition at the musée Condé, Chantilly, 5 September 2020 - 3 January 2021

Porcelain was the white gold of the 18th century, sought after with greed by enlightened princes. Two of them, Auguste le Fort, elector of Saxony and king of Poland, and Louis-Henri de Bourbon, prince of Condé, prime minister of King Louis XV, put their wealth at the service of their passion and founded two prestigious manufactories, in Meissen and Chantilly.

For the first time, a book sheds light on the dialogue between these productions that have marked the decorative arts of the Enlightenment. Gathering French and German specialists, this exhibition catalogue allows to report the latest researches on often extravagant masterpieces, witnesses of remarkable know-how, kept in public and private hands.
