Warhol: The Textiles

Auteur(s) : Geoffrey Rayner, Richard Chamberlain

Exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum, London, 31 March - 10 September 2023

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is best known for his images of soup cans, Coca-Cola bottles and Marilyn Monroe. However, before his meteoric rise in the early 1960s as a Pop Art superstar, Warhol was a very successful commercial artist in New York.

This exhibition catalogue, the first book devoted to Warhol's commercial textile creations, includes over 30 different textiles, from ice cream sundaes to acrobatic clowns. It includes never-before-seen images of newly discovered textiles as well as photographs made especially for this book, shedding new light on an important aspect of Warhol's work.
