Exhibition at the Château de Versailles, November 19th, 2019 - March 15th, 2020

At the end of the 19th century, the Château de Versailles knew a spectacular resurgence on the front scene. While it became again a national symbol and the stage of political events, the nostalgia for its past splendour inspired literature, arts and fashion. The splendour of Versailles, the poetry of its gardens, the ghosts of the Sun King and Marie-Antoinette belong to the dreams of the Belle Epoque then of the Années Folles. It is also the time when the vast project of its restoration and refurnishing began.

This exhibition catalogue retraces the steps of its history, that has made of Versailles one of the most visited sites in the world.
