Pierre Gole : Ébéniste De Louis Xiv

Auteur(s) : Lunsigh Scheurleer

Pierre Gole, born in the Netherlands circa 1620, learned his profession of joiner-cabinetmaker in Paris. At first supplier of the Royal family and rich individuals, he received the title of King's cabinetmaker at Louis XIV's majority in 1651. The inventory done after Gole's death in 1685 shows the diversity of his production and gives a revealing image of the furniture and taste of the era.

Fruit of 30 years of searches, this book by Pr. Lunsigh Scheurleer found a part of his sources in the Crown-delivery invoices which reveal the exceptional luxury of Gole's furniture.
