Lecoanet Hemant : Les Orientalistes De La Haute Couture

Auteur(s) : Collectif

Exhibition at the Cité internationale de la dentelle et de la mode, Calais, 18 June - 31 December 2022

Lecoanet Hemant was created in 1979 by Didier Lecoanet, who began his career at Lanvin, and Hemant Sagar, born in New Delhi. Their fruitful collaboration led them to parade from 1984 to 2000 in the closed circle of Parisian haute couture. Since then, the house has turned to cosmopolitan ready-to-wear designed in India. The Lecoanet Hemant style is expressed through the modulations of the drape and a certain idea of the French cut and sew. The Indian sari is a real trademark of the house, and references to nature in the form of prints, woven fabrics and embroideries using original materials such as ramie or pineapple fibre.

This catalogue of the first retrospective devoted to the house of Lecoanet Hemant offers a journey to the heart of a shimmering and refined fashion that cultivates the art of crossbreeding through 80 silhouettes.
