Frenchman Didier Lecoanet and Indo-German Hemant Sagar merged their names to found their fashion house in 1981. In thirty-three haute couture collections, presented between 1984 and 2000, Lecoanet Hemant helped make Paris the international capital of fashion. Initially based in Paris, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the brand focused solely on haute couture creations before moving in 2000 to Gurugram, India, and turning to ready-to-wear.
This book traces the history of this atypical duo, which is written between East and West, explosion of colours and mischief, poetry and ode to elsewhere, sculptural drapes and couture saris, asymmetries and defying gravity. Sketches and photographs of some of the creations as well as testimonies from friends and family complete the book.
