Exhibition at the Grand Palais, Paris, 9 March - 30 July 2018
Together with Kandinsky, Mondrian, Delaunay, Picabia and Léger, Frantisek Kupka (1871-1957) is considered as one of the pioneers of Abstract art.
This catalogue of the first Parisian retrospective features the painter's complete work since his beginnings marked by Symbolism to his last creations in the 50s.
Gathering paintings, drawings, prints, books and documents, this book highlights the key-periods: his shift to Abstraction in 1912, the "machinist" period at the end of the 1920s; etc. It emphasises Kupka's interest for science and music.
