A native of Roanne, Jean Puy (1876-1960) painted, at the beginning of the 20th century, works marked by his proximity with Fauvism - Matisse, Derain, Vlaminck, Van Dongen...
Ambroise Vollard, art dealer of the young generation of avant-garde artists as Cézanne, Renoir, Gauguin, Redon, Van Gogh and the Fauves, made Jean Puy work during almost twenty years.
This exhibition catalogue presents a selection of works that belonged to Ambroise Vollard gallery and kept today in European public and private collections: portraits, Bretagne and South-of-France landscapes, still lives, ceramics and graphic works.
