Hemba

A reading of nine of the most accomplished Hamba creations. Expressing one of the many Luba sub-styles, these tall, erect male figures, statues of balanced proportions and symmetrical design, created by master sculptors in southeastern Congo since the mid-nineteenth century, are admired by African art enthusiasts around the world.
