Exhibition at the convent of La Tourette, Eveux, 6 September - 24 December 2022
Giuseppe Penone (1947-) visited the convent of La Tourette on several occasions and was struck by the links between architecture and nature, particularly between Le Corbusier's pilings and the trees in the forest surrounding the convent.
The traces of wood left on the surface of the rough concrete walls particularly fascinated Penone, who created pastel and wax rubbings in which the traces of the vegetation on the concrete walls are visible. The 63 colours of Le Corbusier's 1959 palette were used as a background for these works.
This exhibition catalogue brings together in situ views, recent unpublished works and older ones. It is accompanied by texts by Didier Semin, Henry-Claude Cousseau and an interview with the artist conducted by Dominican friar Marc Chauveau, art historian.
