On the death of Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944), one of the greatest names in 20th century architecture, Country Life published three large volumes of his drawings and photographs from the thousands of copies found in his office as a memorial. These are now being reissued.
This first volume contains Luytens' own plans, elevations and many details of the finest examples of his domestic buildings, upon which his immense reputation rests. It embodies the quintessence of the man and his work as well as the variety of style and design seen in the architect's houses. The other two volumes, devoted to corporate and public buildings, are forthcoming.
