Auteur(s) : Marie-Laure de Rochebrune

Ange Laurent de La Live de Jully was one of the most brilliant figures in the world of great French art lovers in the second half of the 18th century. A patron and friend of the artists of his time, collector, engraver, musician and historian, he was elected, at a very young age, an honorary member or associate of the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture, on account of the quality of the collections he had assembled and his artistic abilities.

With the help of the best specialists, this monograph aims to cover all of La Live de Jully's collections in a wide range of fields - painting, graphic arts, sculpture, furniture and objets d'art, books, shells, musical instruments, etc. all of which bear witness to his curiosity, open-mindedness and generosity towards artists. The book also sheds light on the family and intellectual environments in which he grew up, which in many ways explain the formation of his refined taste and extreme artistic sensitivity.
