Mantoue : Le Palais Du Te

Auteur(s) : Ugo Bazzotti

Built between 1525 and 1536 in Mantua, the Palazzo del Te is the masterwork of the architect Giulio Romano (c.1499 - 1546), the most brilliant pupil of Raphael, in response to Duke Federico II Gonzaga's order. This suburbana villa, antique-style vacation place, devoted to rest and distraction, is one of the models of international Mannerism and presents innovations in its architecture as well as in its decoration.

This book reproduces all details and ornamentations of the Palazzo del Te thanks to photographs which underline the beauty and richness of its frescoes and stuccos.
