This monograph illustrates the various aspects of the life and work of Gustav Klimt, co-founder of the Vienna Secession at the beginning of the 20th century. The frescoes, paintings, preparatory drawings and watercolours produced by the artist are reproduced, and his role as a decorator of castles, palaces and theatres is highlighted.

The book also includes a catalogue raisonné of Klimt's works.
