In 1934, Albin Peyron, a family man on a tight budget, asked Le Corbusier to build a simple holiday home on a plot of land he had bought in Les Mathes, near Royan, on the Atlantic coast.

In the context of the Great Depression of 1930, when orders from wealthy clients were sorely lacking, the architect saw the ideal pretext for putting into practice his research into low-cost houses for the working classes. The client's insistence resulted in an unexpected building, made of local stone and wood, and erected by local contractors, since Le Corbusier had never visited the site.

Based on archive photos and documents from the period, this book traces the history of Villa Le Sextant, from the origins of the project to the present day, where it remains the anchor of the Peyron family, who have handed it down for four generations.
