Legendary among watch enthusiasts, the Cosmograph Daytona evokes both the speed and roar of motor racing, and prestige and admiration.
The origin of this myth is linked to a town in Florida, Daytona Beach, famous for its motorbike and car races on the beach. In 1959, the Daytona 500 race was held at Daytona International Speedway, and three years later Rolex became the official timekeeper, marking the beginning of the history of the famous Cosmograph Daytona.
This book is devoted to the history of the Cosmograph Daytona and the hand-wound models created between 1963 and 1988. It also features the personalities who contributed to the chronograph's success, including actor and racing driver Paul Newman. A second volume will later be devoted to the following years.
