Auteur(s) : Collectif

Exhibition at Palais Gallier, Paris, 4 October 2017 - 7 January 2018

This book is the catalogue of the retrospective dedicated to Mariano Fortuny, fashion designer (1871-1949) known for the diversity of his inspirations: ancient Greece, Middle Ages, Renaissance. Some of his famous works such as the Knossos shawl, the Delphos dress or the pleated were worn by celebrities, such as the actress Eleonora Duse or the dancer Isadora Duncan.

"The dresses, usually, have only a future, before they are worn ... These dresses already seem to have a past that will add its melancholic grace to the beauty of the one who will wear them tomorrow."
