Designed by Beauvais clockmarker Auguste Lucien Vérité between 1865 and 1868, 12 meters high, Beauvais cathedral's atronomical clock is a masterpiece of precision: it is made up of 90 000 pieces and consists of 52 dials and 68 static and animated characters.

This book tells the astounding adventures of the clock, collective work by Beauvais artists and craftsmen. It describes its architecture and the organization of its dials carrying spiritual teaching, explains its functioning through drawings, and reminds the exemplary culture and know-how of Beauvais artists and craftsmen at the end of the 19th century.
