The Mughal dynasty reigned from 1526 to 1857, but only six of them, in power from 1526 and 1707, where really « great » and gave India power, prosperity, unity, tolerance and aesthetic refinement.

Since 2009, Hamid Bin Abdullah Al Thani, from Qatar royal family, has built a collection which would be the most important private one in the world.

This exhibition catalogue presents 230 priceless historical pieces, exceptionally presented in France: diamonds and stunning gems, but also unpublished works and pieces coming from collections of Maharajas and prestigious institutions. It tells the history of Indian jewellery from Mughal period until nowadays.
