Constantin Brancusi : La Chose Vraie

Auteur(s) : Doïna Lemny

Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957) was a singular figure whose work was as impressive in its purity of form and modernity as it was in its archaism, difficult to characterise.

Based on the archives kept in the Brancusi collection at the Georges Pompidou Centre, this book follows the Romanian artist's artistic career, examining the key moments of his creation, his working method and the materials used in his sculptures. It evokes the artistic environment in which Brancusi evolved, his relationships and friendships with Duchamp, Modigliani, Satie, Pound and Joyce, as well as the links with his compatriots.
