This book features the five hundred Italian Renaissance "little bronzes" produced from the first half of the 15th century until the middle of the 16th and kept in the Objets d'art department of the Musée du Louvre.
In the first part, essays study the notions of unique pieces and multiples, artist and workshop, replicas and forgeries. Filarete, Pisanello, Donatello and Riccio are mentioned among less known artists. The catalogue that follows, chronologically organised following the order of entry of the works in the collection, gives only objective criteria: provenance, bibliography, iconography, historiography, historical critic.
