Thanks to the zinc galvanisation process, designer Xavier Pauchard (1880-1948) set up a small factory in 1907 to manufacture utility items in galvanised sheet metal. From the 1930s onwards, he designed a whole range of metal furniture, including the famous A chair in steel.
This book retraces the Tolix saga through period documents, a history of metal furniture in France, advice for bargain hunters and testimonials from specialists.
