From 1830 onwards, the Maison Susse produced bronze statuettes of excellent quality illustrating various styles - classical, romantic, orientalist, realistic ... - and various subjects - religious, historical, military ... - which explains its success with the public.
Pierre Cadet has written three articles on this famous company for the Gazette des Beaux-Arts. These articles, published between 1987 and 1994, are gathered here for the first time. The first one presents a history of the Susse company and the two others deal with two important aspects of the business of this company: the advertising through the sales catalogs and the relations with the artists concretized by the publishing contracts.
