Exhibition at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, 19 November 2008 - 16 March 2009
Following Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, Jean Prouvé and Richard Serra, Ron Arad (1951-) is today one of the most important figures in contemporary design. Surfing the field of design, contemporary art and architecture, he is at the crossroads of several fields, refusing to be identified with any one of them.
This exhibition catalogue is one of the first attempts to analyse and comment on a key work of the 20th century. Its rich iconography, including photographs of the scenography of the exhibition designed by Ron Arad for the Centre Pompidou, photographs of unique or industrial pieces, and numerous unpublished drawings, allow us to measure the limitless inventiveness of an artist who claims the concept of "no discipline".
