Pietro Piffetti: Il Re Degli Ebanisti, L'ebanista Del Re

Auteur(s) : Collectif

Exhibition at the Museo Accorsi-Ometto, Turin, September 2013 - January 2014

The Piedmontese cabinetmaker Pietro Piffetti (1701-1777) is renowned for his extraordinary artistic quality, which is evident in the decorative splendour of his highly refined furniture, inlaid with ivory, bone and mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell, ebony and other precious woods, exemplary testimonies of the Piedmontese Baroque period. His name is linked to the House of Savoy, an artistic genius esteemed by King Charles Emmanuel III, supporter of the arts and culture of the kingdom, but also a patron of the arts.

This exhibition catalogue presents famous, mostly unpublished pieces, including a precious cofano-forte, a unique "mobile object", recently purchased and restored by the Accorsi-Ometto Foundation, perhaps one of the three cofano-forte that the artist made for the Savoy family in the 18th century.
