Le Corbusier Et La Lampe Gras

Auteur(s) : Didier Teissonnière

Created by Bernard-Albin Gras in 1921, the Gras lamp has launched a new type of lighting system. Young Le Corbusier (1887-1965), passionate about the problematic of light, appropriated it from the beginning of the 1920s and introduced it in his workshop, at his home, and also in numerous of his realizations: villa Le Lac (Corseaux, Switzerland), villa La Roche (Paris), Eileen Grey's villa in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, etc.
Based on period photographs, this book recounts the history of the half-industrial half-design Gras lamp, of his patents and various designs, and makes rediscover interior designs of one of the greatest 20th-century architects.
