Jean Prouvé : Oeuvre Complète / Complete Works Vol.1 : 1917-1933

Auteur(s) : Peter Sulzer

Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) was one of the most outstanding constructors of the 20th century. His work is a remarkable combination of creative imagination, technical skill and forward-looking enterprise. The first of a four-volume catalogue raisonne of Jean Prouvé's work covers the first creative phase, from 1917 to 1933: metalwork and metal fittings for the architects Emile and Jacques André, Fernand César, Paul Charbonnier ; work for Mallet-Stevens, first furniture and objects, diverse realisations for the Hôpital Grange blanche, for the former Palais du Gouvernement Général in Algiers... This volume also contains the text of numerous conversations with Jean Prouvé.

The author, Pierre Sulzer, former Professor of Architecture at the University of Stuttgart, has been working for more than 20 years on archiving the work of Jean Prouvé.
